FAQs

Bail Bond FAQs

  • How does this work?

When a bail is set by the court the amount is usually too much to pay at one time.  A bail bondsman will post bail on the behalf of the person in jail and you pay them a fraction of the original bond set.  You are promising to appear in court for the date set. The bondsman owes the full amount to the court if you fail to appear.

  • What is a Bail Bondsman?

A person who is over the age of 18 and is listened through the the state of SC through the Dept of Insurance to write bonds throughout the state.

  • What Happens if you do not appear to court?

The court will issue a bench warrant for your arrest.  Once arrested you will be taken back to jail where you lose and chance of a second bond.

  • What if you cant make it to court?

If you are deathly Ill or were in a car accident on the way or something this severe, it is possible the judge may reschedule your court date but you will need to have proof . You should be ready to supply a medical record or accident report.
